Catheter Ablation for Tachycardias

چکیده
T ACHY ARRHYTHMIAS constitute a major cause of mortality and morbidity. The most serious manifestation of cardiac arrhythmia is sudden cardiac death where the underlying rhythm is ventricular tachycardia-ventricular fibrillation (VT VF) in the vast majority of patients. I Other symptoms produced by cardiac arrhythmias are syncope, near syncope, lightheadedness, and palpitations. Although supraventricular tachycardia seldom causes cardiac arrest it can, nonetheless, result in recurrent disabling symptoms.2 A variety of therapeutic modalities have emerged over the years to control tachycardias. These include antiarrhythmic drugs, implantable anti tachycardiacardioverter defibrillators, arrhythmia surgery, and catheter ablation. While implantable antitachycardia devices have evolved as the major nonpharmacologic treatment for VT VF, 3 the catheter ablation technique is now the choice therapy for many forms of supraventricular tachycardias.4-s

Non-contact mapping to guide catheter ablation of untolerated ventricular tachycardia.
AIMS The role of a novel non-contact mapping system (ESI 3000, Endocardial Solutions) to guide radiofrequency catheter ablation of untolerated ventricular tachycardia was investigated in 17 patients; 11 with prior myocardial infarction, three with arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia, and three with idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy. METHODS Twenty-seven monomorphic ventricular tachycar...
متن کاملRadiofrequency catheter ablation in drug refractory maternal supraventricular tachycardias in advanced pregnancy.
BACKGROUND Treatment of maternal tachyarrhythmias in pregnancy is a major clinical issue. Pharmacological treatment raises important concerns regarding partial efficacy and side effects. Radiofrequency ablation of arrhythmogenic substrate has rarely been performed during pregnancy because of the fetal risks related to x-ray exposure and potential fetomaternal procedural complications. CASES T...
متن کاملCatheter ablation of supraventricular arrhythmias and atrial fibrillation.
Supraventricular arrhythmias are relatively common, often persistent, and rarely life-threatening cardiac rhythm disturbances that arise from the sinus node, atrial tissue, or junctional sites between the atria and ventricles. The term "supraventricular arrhythmia" most often is used to refer to supraventricular tachycardias and atrial flutter. The term "supraventricular tachycardia" commonly r...
متن کامل"Cristal tachycardias": origin of right atrial tachycardias from the crista terminalis identified by intracardiac echocardiography.
OBJECTIVES We sought to use intracardiac echocardiography (ICE) to identify the anatomic origin of focal right atrial tachycardias and to define their relation with the crista terminalis (CT). BACKGROUND Previous studies using ICE during mapping of atrial flutter and inappropriate sinus tachycardia have demonstrated an important relation between endocardial anatomy and electrophysiologic even...
متن کاملRight atrial tachycardias related to regions of low-voltage myocardium in patients without prior cardiac surgery: catheter ablation and follow-up results.
AIMS There are only few descriptions of patients without prior cardiac surgery in whom a large low-voltage zone (LVZ) or scar is the electrophysiological substrate for various atrial tachycardias. We describe the electrophysiological and electroanatomic characteristics of unusual macroreentrant atrial tachycardias (MRATs) in seven patients with spontaneous right atrial (RA) scarring and present...
متن کاملTranscatheter ablation of supraventricular tachycardias in pediatric patients.
Ablation has become an important treatment for many pediatric patients with common supraventricular tachycardias (SVTs). Many multicenter studies have documented that radiofrequency (RF) catheter ablation is a safe and effective procedure for treatment of a large variety of SVTs in children and adults with a high success rate and minimal complications. Novel electrophysiology technologies such ...
